Osi Umenyiora sustained a severe knee injury last Saturday night that will see him out for the whole season! What a disastrous start to 2008!! Straight away Giants managment were on the phone to one Michael Strahan to see if retirement was something he could put off another year.
Tempting though it may have been, 36 year old Strahan is enjoying his new role at Fox Sports behind the microphone ofering expert commentary. The thought of getting back to the physical training was not that appealing. Strahan retired after 15 years with the Giants, finishing on a high winning the Superbowl in February.
On vacation in Greece, Strahan told his new employer that this had been a tough decision to make. “But after long deliberation and throwing around a million scenarios in my head for the past day, I think it’s just best if I stay retired” he said. “I really love my life now,” he told Fox Sports.
The Giants took encouragement from the recent return to the field from Packers great Brett Favre, lured out or retirement to the Jets. Not to be for Michael Strahan.
